Do I have the full picture ?
Do I have the full picture? No, I don't have the full picture. Growing up I never got to experience the full picture. I believe that in order to have the full picture you must pay attention to your surroundings and the people around you to help you understand. After watching the video “I didn’t learn this in school” by Victoria, I learned about how the school systems hide so much powerful information from us students. Instead of us getting all the information and the “full picture” we get a simplified version of stories from our history. I can also relate to Victoria’s video because I also never learned about ruby bridges and many other historic characters/events that make up our world’s history. I believe that by not giving our students the full picture we are only robbing them of an education. These moments in history deserve to be remembered and talked about to show how our world has changed and grown over time to how it in today’s time. As a future teacher I want to teach my kids the truth about the past and not “sugar coat” things for them. They deserve the right to know everything and by doing this it will allow them to learn new things and realize the change in the world. I want people to give me the full picture, so I believe that it is only right that I offer the full picture back to my future students and peers. It is important to always remember to be kind and respectful because everyone’s full picture can be different and seen from different point of views.
